Scott Brown is ready to take Luca Connell to Fleetwood Town just days after his Celtic release, according to the Scottish Sun.

Connell left Celtic Park last week after failing to make the breakthrough into the first-team squad. The Republic of Ireland under-21 midfielder leaves having not made a single competitive appearance for the senior squad.

And now it could be the case that he’s snapped up by former teammate Brown. The Sun believes that the ex-Hoops captain wants to take Connell back down south.

Connell has already tasted lower league football in England after his time with Bolton Wanderers. However, it would be a step up for him given he’s spent much of the last 2 years with Queen’s Park.

Signed by Neil Lennon back in the summer of 2019, Connell was never really given much of a chance at Parkhead.

It remains to be seen what he thinks of a potential move to Brown’s club. Fleetwood have already signed Shaun Rooney from St Johnstone as Scott eyes more Scottish football talent.

Luca Connell could do a lot worse than Fleetwood after Celtic Park exit

If Connell left Celtic Park and managed to join Fleetwood, it would actually be a fine move for the player and his career as a whole. After all, it wouldn’t necessarily be a case of swapping Celtic Park for the League One club.

Instead, it would be as if Connell was moving from Queen’s Park to the English League One side. Not a bad move all things considered.

He would also have the prospect of working under the legendary Hoops captain who you have to imagine he’ll have looked up to during his Celtic playing days.

There’s huge fascination and a big spotlight being put on Fleetwood Town this season due to Brown’s appointment alone. That’s surely a huge incentive for Connell if he’s offered the chance to head to England.

Sure, the player probably has every right to be frustrated by how things went at Celtic Park. He may even feel as though he simply hasn’t been given an opportunity here. But it’s time to put all of that behind him and focus on the next big move.

And linking up with Brown at Fleetwood is a lot more exciting than some of the other offers likely on the table this summer.
