As the speculation ramps up today on who will become the next Celtic manager, reports this morning have suggested that Brendan Rodgers is the prime candidate for the club.
Dermot Desmond is said to be due to meet Rodgers in London to discuss a return to Celtic and according to The Sun, Celtic hero, Scott Brown would be ‘in the frame’ to become his assistant if Rodgers accepts the position.
The former Celtic captain certainly enjoyed a trophy-laden spell under Rodgers and the Northern Irishman rates him highly. Rodgers himself tipped Brown to return to Celtic as a manager one day when he left to join Aberdeen. That seems to be a view shared by people at Parkhead.

The report claims senior Celtic figures see Brown as a ‘certain manager of the future’ and would welcome his return. It also claims that if Kennedy were to leave for Spurs, the iconic Brown would be a strong candidate for the No. 2 spot under Rodgers.
But of course, that all depends on the position of the current assistant, John Kennedy. It is said that Kennedy wants to join Ange Postecoglou at Spurs but, as yet, nothing has materialised.

The club are keen to hold on to the 39-year-old but it seems his heart is set on moving to London.
Brown, who recently finished his first season as Fleetwood Town’s manager, has been enjoying time as his own man but could the idea of returning to Celtic to work for Rodgers appeal to the legendary ex-Celtic captain?
As always, speculation will be rife considering the relationship that Rodgers and Brown enjoyed at the beginning of the Quadruple Treble run. This story is sure to develop as the week progresses but all indications are that Brendan Rodgers is the prime candidate for the Celtic board.
