Another hour and another name crops up for the Celtic job. According to Talksport, former West Ham and West Brom boss, Slaven Bilic would be ‘very interested’ in taking over from Ange Postecoglou at Celtic.

The national radio station has quoted an unnamed source as saying that Bilic would be ‘very interested’ in the job. They have also said that the source claims the Croatia legend knows about the Scottish game and the rivalry that exists in Glasgow due to being teammates with various Scottish-based players during his playing days at Everton.

Bilic has a multitude of experience as a manager. After retiring from football in the year 2000, the Croatian took temporary charge at Hadjuk Split whilst the club looked for a full-time boss.

He then went on to manage the Croatian u21 team in 2004 and after two years he was promoted to manage the senior squad in 2006. He took them to the Euros in 2008 and 2012. The furthest he reached in the tournament was the quarter-final stage in 2008.

He has then gone on to manage a variety of clubs including West Ham, Besiktas, West Brom and, most recently, Watford. He was dismissed from Watford in March leaving the club in ninth place, four points off the playoff places.

For me, this should be one that we avoid. Bilic has been sacked from five of his ten managerial positions in his career. The fact that he has managed ten clubs in a managerial career that has spanned just over 20 years is alarming in itself.

Bilic has also never won any silverware as a manager and that is another area that concerns me. The pressure to win everything in Glasgow is intense and requires a manager that has had at least some experience of doing so. However, he has been credited with bringing through a generation of talent for Croatia during his stint as the u21 manager.

In my opinion, there have been better candidates already linked to the club over the last 48 hours. Enzo Maresca and Kjetil Knutsen do seem to be the popular choices amongst the fans.
