Report states Nat Phillips’ teammate ‘caught the attention’ of Celtic for possible January move

Greg Taylor has been a solid performer for Celtic in recent years and has continued that under the stewardship of Brendan Rodgers.

Despite that, it hasn’t stopped rumours surfacing that Celtic might be looking to bring in another left-back during the January transfer window.

It’s pretty clear that Alexandro Bernabei’s time at Parkhead is about to come to an end, if and when that happens, it wouldn’t be a surprise if another left-sided fullback is brought in, for competition, at least.

And, according to a recent report in The Athletic, it seems as though Celtic are looking.

After a successful loan spell at Dundee, Owen Beck is a player who ‘caught the attention’ of Celtic, before being called back by his parent club Liverpool this month.

The 21-year-old’s loan spell was cut short despite performing so well in the Scottish Premiership, he has two goals and two assists from 17 matches.

But despite Celtic wanting to sign the player on a permanent basis, it seems as though Liverpool want to keep him on board for the rest of the season, as he is set to link-up with Nat Phillips again after his short-term loan spell at Parkhead.

Celtic’s January transfer window

This is going to be huge for the team because Brendan Rodgers has been calling for that extra quality to be brought in.

A number of weeks ago, the pressure on the winter transfer window was immense because the team had just suffered back-to-back defeats.

But it just goes to show how a change in form, including the win over Rangers, can change things because the outlook is now more positive.

Either way, it seems as though the left-back position is one to look out for because it wouldn’t be a surprise if someone comes in, even if it’s not going to be Beck.
