Report: The two priority areas on Ange Postecoglou's Celtic transfer to-do-list amidst striker rumours
Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou has prioritised moves for defensive and midfield options as he looks to continue adding to his squad, according to Football Scotland.
Last night, it had been claimed that the club were ‘well down the line’ in a chase for another striker to add to Kyogo Furuhashi and Giorgos Giakoumakis [Daily Record].
However, Football Scotland have reported what the main positions are on Postecoglou’s to-do list this summer.
Journalist Mark Hendry states that another striker is currently not a top priority, and the staff at Parkhead are targeting improvements in the defence and midfield.
During the early stages of the summer window, the Hoops boss has been quick to move for several targets, having signed Cameron Carter-Vickers and Ben Siegrist respectively.
The former Socceroos manager also appears to be closing in on two further additions, with Jota and Alexandro Bernabei expected to arrive in the coming days [Daily Record].
Ange Postecoglou and Celtic not messing around
Postecoglou may be close to adding his third and fourth signing of the window. However, it doesn’t look like his business is done there.
Recent links to Brazilian and Lommel midfielder Vinicius Souza have suggested that the Celtic manager is keen to add another midfield option.
After the exit of both Nir Bitton and Tom Rogic this summer, it became almost certain that the Hoops would look for another addition in that area.
The Celtic boss has made some intriguing moves during the opening few weeks of the window. But he has made it clear that he is keen to add more strength and depth in certain areas.
Whilst we currently have some strong options in the defensive and midfield areas, work could definitely be done to improve the quality of depth at the club.
Depth is something the Hoops were badly missing at specific points during the 2021/22 campaign. So, you can see why it is an area that Postecoglou wants to add too.
Another striker would be a great addition to make, bringing even more firepower to the frontline.
However, it is good to see that the club has its priorities and are making moves in the correct order.
