Tom Rogic has turned down the opportunity of a lucrative deal to join Indonesian side Persija Jakarta, according to the Scottish Sun.
Rogic is still on the hunt for a new club after leaving Celtic after trophy day against Motherwell last month. However, it doesn’t look as if a decision on where he’ll end up is imminent.
But the Sun is reporting his next destination won’t be Indonesia after turning down the opportunity of a financially-rewarding switch to Persija Jakarta.

Instead, the report states that several A-League clubs are interested in the Australian’s services heading into the new season. Granted, a move back home is something Rogic has already dismissed as a potential option this summer.
At 29 years of age, Tom will have every right to feel that he can still operate at the top level if given the chance.

Tom Rogic future still unclear after Celtic exit
Rogic as we know played a huge part in Celtic’s 9-in-a-row run and left as a Parkhead icon. His achievements in Glasgow won’t ever be forgotten, and it was expected that a host of clubs were going to be keen on the Australian.
However, as of yet, we’re no clearer as to where he’s going to end up ahead of the new season. Ideally, both he and Nir Bitton who also departed, would’ve found themselves a new home in time for pre-season kicking off. But it doesn’t appear as if anything is imminent.
Rogic hasn’t particularly laid out his preferred plans in the public. Outside of not wanting to go back to Australia just yet, it’s up in the air as to what’s next for him.

The player himself will of course have a preferred destination. Or at least some idea of the leagues in which he’s open to joining. Certainly given the time he’s spent developing a winning mentality at Celtic Park, you can’t see Rogic just looking to play out his days in an obscure role.
It would be fascinating to see how a talent with the quality of Rogic fares in one of Europe’s elite leagues for example. Whether that would be something that’s on the table for him, of course, is another matter.
Regardless, hopefully Tom manages to find a club soon. When he does, Celtic fans will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on him too.
