Celtic fans have been given a welcome update on the club’s pursuit of Boli Mbombo. The Rapid Vienna left-back has been linked with a move to Glasgow recently, with the Daily Mail first reporting the news last month.

And now the Mail’s Stephen McGowan, a well respected source for Celtic news, has given an update on Mbombo. He was asked by a Hoops fan for an update after some unsubstantiated reports on Twitter said that a move was close.

Update proves Celtic are in the hunt for Mbombo
McGowan’s reply may make for interesting reading for some Celtic fans. It appears that the reports of a deal being completed were a little bit premature. However, the final word of his four word tweet probably says the most.
McGowan is rumoured to be in touch with those inside the club and the fact he hasn’t rubbished the claims of a move for Mbombo show that there is serious interest. Celtic clearly want to bring the Belgian in to bolster our options at left-back.

Hoops fans will now just be hoping that the move can be completed in the coming days. The deadline for registration for the first round of qualifiers is this Thursday at 11pm – so time is ticking.
