Rod Stewart is probably Celtic’s most famous fan.
The worldwide superstar regularly attends games at Celtic Park and has supported the club for decades.
Stewart also regularly defends Celtic on shows like talkSPORT when the presenters appear to try and disrespect the club with disparaging comments.
We told last week how Rod Stewart revealed why he hasn’t invested in Celtic as the legendary crooner says he just wants to enjoy watching the Hoops as a fan.
And now, the legendary singer has named the current Celtic first-team player who he ranks as one of the best players he has ever seen.

James Forrest is one of Rod Stewart’s ‘favourite’ Celtic players
Stewart was speaking to Peter Crouch about his life as a Celtic and Scotland fan when the conversation turned back to the Hoops.
Peter Crouch was taking the tour of Stewart’s house and said, “Just looking around the shirts here, right. I mean, you’ve seen a few players play for Celtic.
“Who’s the best you’ve seen?”
Stewart told That Peter Crouch Podcast [15m 25s], “Well, you know, Jimmy Johnstone was definitely my favourite because he was a good mate of mine.
“You can see a picture of us over there together. But you can’t compare the players in those days to now because of the pitches they played on.
“But Jimmy Johnstone, Scott Brown, Billy McNeill, James Forrest, they’re all my favourite players. Yeah.”
James Forrest and Jimmy Johnstone’s incredible Celtic achievements
James Forrest is officially Celtic’s most decorated player with 26 major honours to his name.
As Stewart states, there can be no comparisons made about either player after Hoops supporters voted Johnstone Celtic’s Greatest Ever Player in 2002.
However, both are Celtic legends but how do the two players’ Parkhead achievements match up?
| Celtic | Jimmy Johnstone | James Forrest |
| Appearances | 515 | 528 |
| Goals | 130 | 110 |
| Scotland caps | 23 | 39 |
| Scottish League titles | 9 | 13 |
| Scottish Cup wins | 4 | 7 |
| League Cup wins | 5 | 6 |
| European Cup wins | 1 | 0 |
Both players are legends at the club and the Celtic duo will always be remembered fondly by every single Hoops supporter for generations to come.
