Ross Desmond’s unlisted role on Celtic’s official club website raises more AGM questions

The 2025 Celtic AGM is a topic that will dominate the headlines for the rest of the season, especially after Ross Desmond’s role in the debacle.

Desmond’s blatant attack on Celtic fans is like nothing the Parkhead support has ever seen during the annual address of the shareholders by the Hoops executive.

Dermot Desmond’s son labelled the Celtic fans as ‘bullies’ as Ross poured petrol on what was already a bin fire as the Celtic AGM descended into chaos.

But why was Desmond Jr allowed such a vocal and public platform in which to make such an attack on the Celtic support?

After looking at how he is listed on Celtic’s official website, this will ultimately raise more questions about Dermot’s influence at the club.

Ross Desmond is not listed as a Celtic director or board member

Looking at the club’s website, Ross Desmond is not listed in any capacity as a Celtic plc director or non-executive director.

The only people on the list are as follows:

Celtic’s official Executive Directors

Celtic’s non-Executive Directors

Ross Desmond is not listed in any official capacity at any level, he undoubtedly does speak on behalf of his father, which is strange considering Dermot Desmond does not own Celtic.

Who should have addressed the Celtic support at the 2025 AGM instead of Ross Desmond

Mark Guidi confirmed that Ross Desmond is not a director at Celtic in any official capacity, so who should have been addressing shareholders and fans at the annual meeting?

As chairman, Peter Lawwell is responsible for the running and officiating of the Celtic AGM. Quite why he allowed Desmond’s rant to go on remains a mystery and could be construed as a failure of fiduciary duty.

Michael Nicholson is the other board member who should also have addressed the fans ahead of Desmond Jr but instead, was left sitting silent on the sidelines.

The whole Celtic AGM was a shambles and paints the Hoops hierarchy in such a poor light in what has been an embarrassing episode in the club’s season.
