The Celtic Fans Collective have issued a brutal takedown of Celtic shareholder Dermot Desmond ahead of the 2025 AGM.

Desmond has long been lamented by the Celtic support as a man who has far too much power at the club considering he has less than 35% of the total club shareholding.

The largest minority shareholder’s power at the club could not be more evident after reports said that Desmond ‘allowed’ one Celtic boardroom member to talk to potential managerial candidate, Wilfried Nancy.

And hitting out at Desmond, the Celtic Fans Collective have released a no-holds barred statement on the Parkhead executive.

Dermot Desmond condemned for ‘insulting’ Celtic fans

Desmond’s ‘personal attack’ on Rodgers just proves how the director sees his role at the club and now, the Collective have called him out for his treatment of the Hoops support.

The statement reads, “Dermot Desmond’s grip on Celtic has shifted from dominant to out of control. His influence towers over the board to such an extent that any genuine accountability has vanished.

“His recent public statements, where he insulted fans following the transfer window and used the Club’s website to launch a personal attack on an ex-manager, highlight how dangerous and unchecked his influence has become.

“These recent comments were not the words of a leader who cares about the Club and the support. They were the rantings of a man who believes that he is untouchable.”

Dermot Desmond told his ‘time at Celtic has expired’

The statement didn’t stop there. The Collective then go on to fillet the authority Desmond has at Celtic, and calls out the Parkhead board for allowing the Irish billionaire to do whatever he wants at the club.

The statement continued, “His authority goes unchallenged and the Celtic board has drifted into a role that serves his demands rather than acting independently and protecting the Club’s long-term interests.

“Celtic needs leadership that understands modern football structures, embraces progressive change and respects supporters.

“Instead, the Club is held back by a principal shareholder, surrounded by familiar faces, clinging to a bowling-club mentality and underpinned by a jobs-for-the-boys culture.

“Dermot – your time at Celtic has expired.”

Celtic fans are desperate for leadership change to tap into the real potential Celtic have on the European stage.

Whilst domestic dominance has been unmatched, the lack of ambition shown to compete at the top echelons of European football could be their ultimate downfall.
