Ross McCormack grew up a Celtic fan and was on trial at the Parkhead club when he was just a kid.
Celtic never took him on, and after that, McCormack was signed by Rangers and joined the Ibrox club’s youth set up.
In 2002 McCormack made his full debut and spent four years at Rangers, and despite being a huge Celtic fan, the former striker says signing for the Ibrox club was not as hard as some people might think.
And it wasn’t because of a rumour he heard that he wore a Celtic top under his Rangers jersey when playing in the Ibrox first team.

McCormack says Celtic rumour when at Rangers was ‘simply untrue’
To be fair, that is a great rumour and would have been hilarious if true, but here McCormack quashed the whispers about him wearing a Celtic top under his Rangers jersey.
McCormack told the Daily Record, “I also have to say it’s easier than you think to be a Celtic supporter who played for Rangers.
“My Celtic-supporting dad was totally fine with it and I don’t remember a critical word coming from any member of my family either.
“I know there was a rumour that I wore a Celtic strip under my Rangers top but that was simply untrue.
“I never hid the fact I was brought up as a Celtic supporter, even though I knew there were other people in my position who would have kept quiet about it.”
Ross McCormack’s Celtic ‘truth’ when asked to pick Glasgow Derby winner
Despite never having played for Celtic, McCormack still has a soft spot for the Parkhead club.
And when asked who he wants to win today’s Ibrox Glasgow Derby, McCormack said, “If you twisted my arm I’d say I would rather Celtic won today.
“But the truth is I don’t care who wins the game. It’s an irrelevance to me because I’m more of a Leeds United fan these days.”
This would have been superb if the rumour was true but it’s clear that McCormack still has a close affiliation with Celtic despite his Rangers past.
As for Martin O’Neill, he certainly will care who wins today’s Glasgow Derby as it will give the Celtic boss the chance to get one over Rangers and close the gap to Hearts at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
