Scotrail will not be running a train from Dalmarnock after full-time on Sunday, as Celtic take on Aberdeen at Celtic Park.
Dalmarnock is a well-used station by Celtic fans on matchdays, with the line running directly into Argyle Street, Glasgow Central and beyond. It is the most convenient train line to the city centre from the stadium.
Scotrail recently cleared up timetable issues following an agreement reached with striking workers, which will ensure smoother matchdays heading deeper into the season.
However, even with a normal timetable capacity, their Sunday service from Dalmarnock stops at 18:13.
With the match against the Dons kicking off a little later than usual at 4:30pm, it means Celtic fans have to find alternative methods of transport.
The Celtic supporter liaison officer has confirmed that the club have been informed there is no train running beyond this time, and to JP Taylor’s credit this is being communicated as far in advance as possible.
Trains should be available from Bridgeton. Buses are also often available from the roads north of the stadium, though can be quite busy.
It is a reminder that public transport in Glasgow is sometimes a little awkward for Hoops fans. Thankfully, many of our home games should kick off on Saturday this season due to participation in the Champions League, not the Europe or Conference Leagues.
Saturday timetables are a bit kinder and more flexible for travelling fans, allowing everyone to get to and from the stadium.
We know the club often tries to work with transport companies for solutions best suited to supporters, and hopefully, a more modern shuttle method of getting fans in and out of the city centre can be viable down the line.
As it stands, though, if you were planning to use Dalmarnock on Sunday, you’ll have to find an alternative.
