Scott Bain could do with a clean sheet against Sarajevo

It may be early in the season but Scott Bain will still be craving a clean sheet when Sarajevo roll into Celtic Park on Wednesday.

Just like forwards getting off the mark, keepers also like to notch a clean sheet early on to build confidence.

Celtic may have won 3-1 against the Bosnians last week but there were still elements of the performance that will have caused concern for Neil Lennon. Sarajevo were gifted a pretty simple goal in the opening stages of the encounter and Lennon won’t want to see any repeat of that in the return leg.

Bain has conceded a goal in each of his last four competitive outings and will be keen to stop the rot. Celtic, meanwhile, should have no worries against the mediocre European outfit who should be jaded from their travels.

Bain must exude confidence against Sarajevo

The Hoops defence will have a new look to it this season with the likes of Christopher Jullien and Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo likely to be joined by a first-choice right-back and some other recruits.

Bain could be one of the only men to be kept on in the defensive department so he needs to exude confidence. We’re going into some of our biggest games of the season and there will be testing times for a defence not yet gelled together.

Bain has to take charge. He could start that by keeping a clean sheet on Wednesday.
