Scott Brown has been blown away by what the Celtic fans have done since he left the club

Celtic legend, Scott Brown, has always had a close relationship with the supporters over his 14-year stay at the club.

Brown captained the club through one of it’s most successful periods in its history as he brought home a Quadruple Treble and a second nine-in-a-row.

The now Ayr manager will go down as a living legend. Ten league titles, six Scottish Cups and seven League Cups makes Brown one of the most decorated players in Celtic’s history.

But even though he left the club almost three years ago now, Brown has been blown away with what the Celtic fans do every time he meets them.

Brown hails ‘fantastic’ Celtic supporters

At the annual Player of the Year awards last night, Brown won The Legendary Player of the Year Award after a fan vote and in an acceptance speech made via video, the former Celtic captain shared how the fans still blow him away even after he left the club.

Brown said [Celtic TV], “Celtic’s been a special part of my heart and over the last 14 years that I was a player to the club we had some really enjoyable moments.

“We had won trebles, Quadruple Trebles, we went through the whole season unbeaten. So for me, we couldn’t have done that without the lads and the management staff that we’ve had and all the managers throughout the time that were all there as well.

“But most of all, the 20 years of dominance that we’ve had when winning trophies, enjoying our times and there’s always going to be highs and lows but remember we always stick by each other through thick and thin.

“And for me, there’s been nobody better that stuck by me and all the fans that have supported me over the years.

“But I’d like to thank you the most for my time at the club and it’s meant so much because even though I’ve been at Fleetwood, I’ve been down at Ayr and you’ve come along and you support.

“I see you in the streets in Glasgow and Edinburgh and you still come along and we talk about our memories.

“We’ve grown up together and had that bond and hopefully we can continue that as well and you’re going to continue that with Brendan and the lads as well.”

What Brown achieved at Celtic should never be underestimated. Whilst he wasn’t blessed with the skill and trickery of players like Jota, Broony was a lion in the heart of the Celtic keep and a sheer driving force in our most recent successes.

And the question on every Celtic fan’s lips these days? Would Brown be Celtic management material? If he continues his development the way that he has been going, who knows?

But one thing is for sure. He knows the club, he knows what it takes to be successful at Celtic. If he can show the same winning mentality as a manager as he did as a player then Broony could be a perfect match for Celtic in the future.
