Former Celtic striker Scott McDonald has delivered his verdict on the early form of the Bhoys this term, noting the phenomenal goals and one small area of improvement.
The Aussie has been wowed by his fellow countryman’s team in the early weeks of this season, but found one spot where the Hoops can work on as they look to secure a second successive Scottish Premiership title.
When asked to sum up Celtic’s start to the season, McDonald exclusively described it to 67 Hail Hail as: “Almost flawless. The one little blemish is that the one goal they’ve conceded comes from a set piece, and that’s probably been the weak point for Celtic last year.

“I’m not saying it’s going to be detrimental but if you’re looking at Celtic at the moment and you get set pieces you’ve got to make them count because you’ll feel that there’s a possibility that you can score from those opportunities.”
Despite this, the 38-year-old was full of praise for Celtic’s start to the season, insisting that the side will be the ones to beat in the Scottish Premiership this season.
He said: “Some of the goals we’ve already witnessed this season have been phenomenal, haven’t they? For other people, is the penny going to drop in terms of Ange’s style – his tactical play? I don’t think so. I think he’s got too much at the moment for other coaches in this league and certainly the personnel that they’re playing against.
“It bodes really well for Celtic right now and they just have to keep on that winning way and keep performing. For me, it’s a case of ‘catch us if you can’ now for Celtic.”
McDonald also picked out one player in particular for praise from Celtic’s early games, and his choice will be little surprise to anyone who has watched the team this season.
He said: “I’m really pleased to see Jota pick it up where he left off because when a player comes in and signs fully after a loan there’s a buzz and he needs to impress.

“When you sign for a football club there can be a mentality change in the player, he gets a little bit comfortable – but he’s not shown any signs of that which has been really great news for Celtic.”
McDonald’s ringing endorsement is fitting praise for Postecoglou’s side, who look in great shape so far this season.
