Former Celtic striker Scott McDonald has insisted that Hoops boss Ange Postecoglou will be ‘so hungry for more’ going into next season.

After spending last summer rebuilding his squad, the Celtic manager produced an incredible turnaround, which ended with the Bhoys lifting a league and cup double.

The success of the 2021/22 campaign has left the Bhoys fan base buzzing for what is to come next under Postecoglou as he prepares for his second season in charge.

One man who knows what to expect from Postecoglou going into his second year in the dugout is ex-Hoops striker Scott McDonald.

The 38-year-old knows the former Socceroos boss from his time as a player within the Australian international youth set-up and stated that the one word which resonates with Postecoglou is ‘relentless’.

McDonald also insisted that the Celtic manager will be hungry for even more success for himself and his players, which is likely to fuel supporters’ excitement.

He said [Celtic FC]: “I think the one word that you always put to Ange, and he’s said it, is relentless.

“And rightly so, because that’s his mentality, and that’s what he epitomises and wants to embody in his team and in this club.

“So, I think he wants everything next year. He wants qualification to the last-16 of the Champions League. He’ll want to put his stamp on European football and being a European-level manager.

“So, he’ll have his goals, but he’ll have his goals more for the players than himself; it’s not about Ange, has never been one for that. He gets into the player’s heads and wants them to succeed and perform – that’s his role.”

Ange Postecoglou will be hungry to show his quality on Europe’s biggest stage

As Celtic fans are well aware by now, Ange Postecoglou has enjoyed success at almost every club he has managed.

However, before coming to Celtic, it is fair to say that not many football fans in Europe had heard of the ex-Yokohama F Marinos boss.

Last season, Postecoglou made himself well known to those who keep a close eye on Scottish Football, and they could see how good a job he has done so far.

Going into the 2022/23 campaign, Ange now has the chance to impress football fans from across Europe by making a real dent with Celtic in the Champions League.

It will be an extremely tough task. But, if there is one man who will be up for that challenge it is Ange Postecoglou.

That should be a challenge which excites the Celtic support, as we prepare to embark on European Football’s biggest competition for the first time since 2017.

Postecoglou will be hungry to take us to the next level, and he has already proved that he is capable of doing so, just one year into the job at Parkhead.
