New Celtic signing Sead Haksabanovic has joked he would have contributed to Sunday’s 9-0 win by scoring four games, as he aims to break into Ange Postecoglou’s front three.
The 23-year-old winger arrived at Parkhead late last week, signing a five-year deal after joining from Russian side Rubin Kazan.
Haksabanovic will be desperate to make his Celtic debut in this free-flowing attacking side. However, Sunday’s trip to Tannadice came too soon.
Unfortunately for the Montenegrin internationalist, it could have been an ideal opportunity to make his debut if he was up to full speed, with the Hoops running out 9-0 winners over Dundee United.
The Bhoys’ newest recruit now faces the difficult task of breaking into a Celtic front three that is on fire, with Kyogo Furuhashi, Liel Abada and Jota all contributing in front of goal yesterday afternoon.
Two prominent attacking figures from last season, Daizen Maeda and Giorgos Giakoumakis, also started on the bench/were excluded from the squad altogether. So, Ange Postecoglou already has a host of attacking talent to choose from.
However, it doesn’t appear that will be something that phases Sead Haksabanovic, who is keen to stamp his own game on the attacking frontline.
Speaking to fan media outlets this afternoon, the versatile attacker was asked for his thoughts on yesterday’s game and the task at hand that he faces of breaking into the Celtic front three.
The former West Ham man delivered a hilarious response, stating that he simply would have scored more than any other attacking player on the park, before insisting he is here to give his all to the squad.
In a press conference 67 Hail Hail attended, he joked: “I would have come in and scored four goals!”
“No, but it’s a challenge for me to take their place (in the front three). But I am here for it. I am here to give 110% in every training session, for every game, for me and for the team.
“So, I’m just looking forward to getting started and to start playing games. Then, by playing more games, I can show myself.”
Haksabanovic is confident and hungry to get started at Celtic.
Currently, we do not know exactly what date Ange Postecoglou is aiming for to hand Haksabanovic his Celtic debut.
However, the winger already appears to be hungry to get going at Parkhead, and he is confident of his abilities to feature within this Hoops side.
As mentioned, the Bhoys already have a whole host of quality attacking options to pick from, and the 28-time capped internationalist adds yet another brilliant choice for the Celtic manager within his front three.
I am sure the entire squad is absolutely buzzing off the back of an impressive showing at Tannadice on Sunday, including Haksabanovic, who will be looking forward to making his debut.
