Celtic’s move to sign St Mirren youngster Dylan Reid is reportedly back on the cards after failed interest earlier in the summer window.

The 17-year-old was subject to transfer interest back in July, with the Hoops having a £125,00 transfer bid accepted by the Paisley club.

However, despite holding talks with the Scotland under-17 internationalist, Reid opted to remain at St Mirren in an attempt to break into the first team.

So far, Reid has featured for Stephen Robinson’s side in the early rounds of the Premier Sports Cup, but the St Mirren youngster has yet to make a Scottish Premiership appearance this season, only making the bench.

Any further move from Celtic for the talented midfielder this window looked to be off, after the Bhoys failed to entice Reid to join the Lennoxtown academy.

However, according to a report from Football Scotland, Ange Postecoglou’s side has made another move for the teenager and hope to convince him to join the club this week.

The Bhoys face a race against the clock to get the deal over the line, with the summer transfer window set to close on Thursday evening.

The report states that Celtic will do what they can to convince the player to join the development ranks, with the player continuing to attract strong interest from south of the border.

Should Reid join, it is expected that he will join the club’s B side, managed by Stephen McManus and Darren O’Dea, who are taking part in the Lowland League and UEFA Youth League this campaign.

Having initially turned down the chance to join Celtic earlier in the summer, it should be intrguing to see whether or not Reid is a St Mirren player by the end of the window.

The Buddies clearly have a very talented player on their hands, with Reid previously attracting interest from European giants Bayern Munich last year.

Should Celtic complete a move for the youngster, it would mark another good piece of recruitment by the club this summer, adding to the up-and-coming youth ranks at Parkhead.
