Shin Yamada tells Celtic fans he has the ‘speed and power’ Kyogo didn’t

Yamada was unlucky not to score in Celtic’s win over Al-Ahli after he was flagged offside in Como.

Celtic fans were impressed with his debut and here, Yamada lays out ‘something different’ he has compared to Kyogo.

Yamada told The Scottish Sun, “I heard all the news about Kyogo scoring goals for Celtic.

“As players, I would say some parts of our game is similar, maybe in front of goal especially.

“However, I have something different which is speed and power.

“With that, I hope to perform as well as him and contribute to Celtic.

“I have speed at one-v-ones, I like to run behind the defenders, that is one of my strengths.”

What Brendan Rodgers really thinks about Shin Yamada’s Celtic debut

Brendan Rodgers was delighted to finally give Yamada his first outing in a Celtic jersey and here, the Hoops boss shares his early verdict on the Japanese striker.

Rodgers said of Yamada, “Yeah, he has been settling in.

“It’s never easy.

You think about where he has come from, the other side of the world, and then he is adapting straight away to a new intensity, which is always tough, and then you are travelling.

“He has worked very hard in training. It was nice for him to get that little moment in the end.”
