Rangers set to complete £5m raid for Go Ahead Eagles winger as Celtic dither on Jakob Breum

Celtic’s pursuit of Jakob Breum has hit a couple of stumbling blocks but Rangers look set to raid the Dutch club with a £5m transfer move.

Go Ahead Eagles have rejected three bids from Celtic for Breum as they stand firm on the £6.5m price tag they have placed on the winger’s head.

Celtic had previously bid £1.5m for Breum and it appears that even though the Parkhead club have upped the ante to £3m, it’s still not enough to tempt the Eredivisie side to let young Breum leave.

Rangers, on the other hand, are set to complete a £5m move for another of Go Ahead’s wingers and it could mean bad news for Celtic.

Rangers set to sign Celtic target Jakob Breum’s Go Ahead Eagles teammate Oliver Antman

The Daily Record reports that Rangers are set to sign Go Ahead Eagles winger Oliver Antman for £5m.

The report says that an ‘agreement has been reached’ by the Ibrox club to sign the 23-year-old and that the deal will be concluded within the next 48 hours.

This development could put Celtic’s pursuit of Breum at risk if Go Ahead now decide that they cannot let two first-team wingers leave in the same transfer window.

Should the move to sign Breum be put at jeopardy because Rangers got their transfer business done with the Dutch club quickly, fans will not be happy after Brendan Rodgers admitted strengthening Celtic’s frontline was a priority this summer.

Celtic’s pursuit of Michel-Ange Balikwisha appears to have cooled

Celtic’s interest in Michel-Ange Balikwisha appears to have cooled after conflicting reports from the Daily Record.

The winger’s agent confirmed no contact had been made by the Parkhead club as yet after weeks of speculation over the Belgian winger’s apparent move to Celtic.

That’s despite the same media outlet then claiming Celtic were still in talks with Royal Antwerp about a summer move.

Should Celtic’s move for Breum fail after this latest development, then Rodgers had better have a back-up plan ahead of the new season kick-off on Sunday.
