‘Shocking’ – Ally McCoist sounds in pain pointing out what Celtic do so much better than Rangers

Ally McCoist returns to talkSPORT duty with Celtic already ahead of Rangers in the league title race.

The former Rangers striker would have been hoping that with the 49ers Enterprises and Rangers challenge to Celtic would have got off to a better start after ending last season trophyless again.

However, as it stands, Brendan Rodgers has Celtic in pole position after the Hoops beat St Mirren and Aberdeen as Rangers stutter against Dundee and Motherwell.

And speaking about the start of the season, McCoist sounds in pain already as he talks up what Celtic are doing so much better than Rangers.

Ally McCoist talks up Celtic’s recruitment vs Rangers’

For all the negativity surrounding Celtic’s transfer business this summer, McCoist can’t help but admit that the Parkhead club are still miles ahead of Rangers’.

McCoist told talkSPORT, “They’ve got to get new players. And the first thing you’ve got to say is recruitment.

“When I say recruitment, when I say recently, I don’t mean under Russell Martin’s tenure, because it’s far too early to judge.

“Recruitment’s not been good enough. Recruitment has been shocking, effectively.

“And what’s highlighted that Gabby, is the fact that recruitment across the city has been very, very good. “The recruitment at Celtic, particularly under big Ange, particularly the Japanese lads, has been excellent, terrific.

“So with a combination of Celtic’s recruitment being very good and Rangers’ being very poor, you’re right up against it.”

McCoist delivers Rangers a message as Celtic go four-points clear

With a four-point advantage at the top of the league and the possibility of Celtic going 10 points ahead of Rangers before the end of the month, McCoist has a message for his old club.

And it will delight the Celtic support.

McCoist continued, “So you must give Russell Martin time. We’ve just got new owners at the club. So that’s going to take a little bit of time.

“The one thing that is, they came in and bought Leeds United, they didn’t come in and start splashing the cash about. They organised things and that takes a little bit of time.

“I don’t mind that at all. However, a lot of Rangers fans can’t really accept the level of performances against Motherwell and Dundee.”

Celtic fans will be delighted at how the start of the new season has gone.

With daylight already between both clubs at the top of the table, if Celtic get their finger out with recruitment this summer, it’s scary to think what the gap could be to Rangers at the end of this season if Rodgers gets to strengthen the first-team squad.
