Undoubtedly, Celtic’s draw with Aberdeen is a sore one for the fans to take but it seems that there is one crumb of comfort the fans can take from the game.

Despite being 2-0 up and cruising at halftime, Celtic allowed Aberdeen to get back into the game and rescue a 2-2 draw at Parkhead.

First-half goals from Reo Hatate and Kyogo Furuhashi put Celtic in a commanding position after 45 minutes and that led to Simon Donnelly pointing out that Brendan Rodgers has unearthed a gem at Celtic this summer.

Alex Valle needs to take advantage of Celtic game time after Aberdeen performance

Alex Valle arrived at Celtic on loan from Barcelona this summer and the majority of his appearances have been from the Hoops bench.

However, now that Greg Taylor is currently injured, the Spanish fullback is now getting more game time and it seems his first-half performance against The Dons really impressed Donnelly.

Donnelly told Celtic TV, “He’s a tidy footballer. I think he’s like every other player, you need game time.

“Greg Taylor played so well, it’s kind of limited his time. Greg’s out injured at the moment, so he needs to take advantage of that.

“But he looks like a really tidy footballer.”

Alex Valle’s Celtic stats vs Aberdeen

Valle started and finished Celtic’s draw with Aberdeen and according to football stats site, Fotmob, he was one of Brendan Rodgers’ best players rated at 7.8.

With 115 touches, the 20-year-old defender made 76 passes and 88% of those found a Celtic teammate.

The Spaniard also created two chances, made 12 passes into Aberdeen’s final third and had one shot on goal blocked.

Defensively, Valle put in a shift as he cleared and goal-bound shot off the line, made two clearances, one interception, six defensive actions and three ball recoveries.

Valle also won a stunning 14 duels as he tried to keep a counter-attacking Aberdeen at bay. With just three Scottish Premiership games under his belt, the young on-loan Barcelona fullback is certainly showing he is a talented footballer in the early days of his Celtic career.
