Sky Sports confirm unusual Premiership kick-off schedule for Celtic

Celtic will play a Scottish Premiership match on a Thursday night in December as Sky Sports load up on mid-week coverage.

The broadcaster is set to air top-flight Scottish matches on three consecutive days from Tuesday 30th November, taking advantage of an off week in UEFA competition.

Celtic traditionally play mid-week games on a Wednesday, with sometimes Tuesday used. Thursday is regularly used for Europa League fixtures, but rarely for domestic outings.

Celtic will host Hearts at Celtic Park under the lights at 7:45pm on Thursday 2nd December, with the match broadcast live on Sky Sports.

Three days later on Sunday 5th December, the Bhoys will travel to Tannadice to face Dundee United in a lunchtime kick-off that will also be live on Sky.

It all means Celtic will be locked in a cycle of Sunday to Thursday action from 25th November against Bayer Leverkusen to Motherwell on 12th December.

Fortunately, we do have plenty of home games throughout that period. Three of our four league fixtures during this time will come at Paradise, giving Ange Postecoglou and his Bhoys a chance to rack up victories.

This kind of fixture cycle is a reality of being a Celtic player and manager these days so it shouldn’t mess too much with the processes of Ange Postecoglou.

In fact, sticking to a Thursday schedule might be a benefit, rather than changing it up. Celtic will hopefully be well into a groove by then.

That’s all in the distant future for now though. The only game I care about right now comes this Sunday away to Aberdeen in a huge Premiership clash!
