Andy Walker gives his Celtic POTY; makes international call-up prediction

The Celtic Player of The Year nominations have been hogging the headlines almost as much as the up-coming Glasgow Derby this week.

With Celtic announcing their shortlist for the award this week, we have had every pundit and ex-Celt offering up their opinions on who should win the end-of-season accolade.

My three nominations are here, but Sky Sports’ Andy Walker has offered up who he believes should be the winner and it is very difficult to argue with his choice.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Walker said, “I don’t think you’re too far away from Kyogo getting back into the international setup. He has been so consistent.

“If I had a vote for the Player of the Year, and I know there are a number of options at Celtic, I’d go for Kyogo.

“I think he’s been the best. I think there are still more goals to come.

“And if he keeps doing it, and then of course, you’ve got Champions League football, if he manages a notch on that type of stage, he can’t be too far away from getting back into the international team.”

Kyogo seems to be the outstanding choice this season

And not just for his goals. So far, Kyogo is on 29 goals in all competitions. He will most definitely break the 30 goal barrier and, with some luck, could hit 40 before the season is out.

But it is also his work rate for the side that has all the fans purring about the striker.

Kyogo, like Ange, just never stops. His constant harrying of defenders and goalkeepers ofter creates forced errors. And how many times have we seen him make lung-bursting runs into his own half just to win possession back for his team?

If the Japanese striker does win it, and it looks like he will, there will certainly be no grumblings from any Celtic fans.
