Sky Sports panel so blown away by ‘ridiculous’ Celtic that even Kris Boyd can’t hide admiration

Celtic are the best team in Scotland, and pundits are falling over themselves to praise Brendan Rodgers’ side’s recent electric performances.

The reigning Scottish champions have netted an incredible 33 goals from just nine matches in all competitions this term, conceding only three in response.

Saturday night’s 6-0 thrashing of St Johnstone was the largest single victory so far, and it has prompted rounds of adulation from supporters, media and former players.

BBC Sportsound panellists described the team as the best seen in the country for a long time, while Sky Sports followed that up with their own analysis ahead of Sunday’s TV match at Ibrox.

Jack Ross lauds ‘relentless’ Celtic

When asked for his thoughts on Celtic’s current form, Jack Ross noted what the Bhoys are doing well right now.

He said: “They’ve been relentless so far in their performances. I think it’s the speed of their play that’s so impressive, with and without the ball.

“There are all the little extra bits of detail that seem to be working for them. Even early in the build-up to Paulo Bernardo’s goal, Alistair Johnston’s decision to come inside to build the game just speeds up how quickly they can get up the pitch, with the number of runners they have coming from deeper areas.

“Quality of delivery, quality of finishing, it’s just a period for them when everything’s clicking. You fear for the rest of the league if they continue in that form because they look very, very good at present.”

Even Kris Boyd joins the chorus of Celtic praise

James McFadden summed his thoughts up with a simple verdict: “The goals they’re scoring are ridiculous.”

In response to that, famously pro-Rangers pundit Kris Boyd said: “They’re all in sync with each other as well. They don’t need to take touch, touch, touch because they know exactly where their teammates are going to be. Put it in the area, and they know someone’s going to be there.

“It’s not only that. All the top teams, it doesn’t matter what country they are in, they all work their socks off, and that’s exactly what Celtic do.”

Discussing Adam Idah’s sumptuous goal to round off the six-goal rout, Boyd added: “It was unbelievable.”

Bhoys go from strength to strength under Brendan Rodgers

It truly is an exciting time to be a Celtic fan. With giant matches in Europe, on-fire performances at home and the prospect of even more silverware this term, there’s a countdown to every occasion we get to see Rodgers’ heroes on the pitch.

He’s brought noticeable improvements to the team over the last 12 months – in attitude, attacking quality and defensive resilience – and there’s still a sense he’s far from finished developing this current group. The smart money is on Celtic even getting better from this point onwards.
