Some Celtic fans are delighted that Tom Rogic is staying put

Tom Rogic could be staying put at Celtic, after talks about a move to Qatar surprisingly stalled.

The Scottish Sun say that the Aussie playmaker is having “second thoughts” about a move to the Middle East – after seven years at the Hoops.

It was felt that Rogic was almost sure to leave the club when the Daily Mail first reported the news last month.

However, now the 27-year-old could be sticking around for our shot at the ten.

And lots of Celtic supporters are very happy about that.

Could Rogic get back to his best for Celtic?

Many Celtic fans, including this writer, had written the Aussie off as being finished at Celtic.

That may still be the case. Rogic has played just 19 minutes this season – in the friendly defeat to PSG – and he hasn’t even made the squad in any of our last three matches.

But if the cloud over a move away is lifted, then there’s nothing to say he couldn’t get back to his best.

Neil Lennon still wants him around, judging by some quotes reported by the Herald last month.

Lennon said: “I admire Tom. He’s a brilliant player. I think he’s a top-quality player and would like to have him around the place.”

The Aussie is still well in his peak years, and could offer us something different this season.

C’mon Tom. Let’s give it one more go, eh?
