Read MoreSome Celtic fans react as Daniel Church leaves club
Celtic youngster Daniel Church took to Twitter on Thursday night to announce that he is leaving the club. The full-back disclosed that he had been with the Hoops for 13 years, and that it had been a ‘dream come true’ to play for the club.
Thank you @CelticFC for the last 13 years. Have so many amazing memories and met a lot of great people along the way. Been a dream come true growing up playing for my boyhood club, looking forward to the next chapter now ⏳ pic.twitter.com/4uYX1to2k8

He also proclaimed that he was ‘looking forward to the next chapter’ which is understandable. He will be looking for regular football after not being able to make the breakthrough with the Hoops.
There is no shame in that. Many players do not make the cut with the Celtic first-team. However, at the age of 20, Church will be looking for more regular football, and that wasn’t going to happen with the Hoops.

It is a bit unfortunate for the player that he was unable to make the first-team, as Celtic are in need of another left-back. However, these things happen in football, and the player shouldn’t be down about that.
Spent time out on loan last season
Church might not have made the Hoops first-team, but last season he did spend time on loan at East Fife, making 12 appearances.
He might well be able to make a career in the lower leagues of Scottish football. During this uncertain time in the game, that is not a bad thing.

Church will no doubt leave the club with the best wishes of all at Celtic Park. You can’t blame him for trying to live his dream, it is just a pity that he didn’t manage to make the grade.
Some fans believe player can return to club in future
Church’s emotional exit from the club garnered some reaction from Celtic fans on social media. Some fans were of the opinion that the player could return to the club to the future, pointing out that the Hoops had made mistakes in not singing Aaron Hickey and Andy Robertson, who were involved at Celtic as youngsters.
That might be going a bit far to suggest that. However, hopefully Church can get regular football at a club this season.
Here are some of the best reactions from social media to Church’s departure:
