The son of a Celtic icon has taken his first major steps into senior football after being included in his national team’s squad for the upcoming U19 European Championships.

Celtic stars past and present have gone on to become family members, with their children often following in their footsteps.

Notably, club legend Henrik Larsson has a son called Jordan, who has been linked to Celtic many times and has gone on to play for the likes of Spartak Moscow and FC Copenhagen.

Now, a new star has been born and is taking to the international stage to represent his nation at the Euros.

Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink is a household name at Celtic Park.

As well as having a tremendous name, the forward scored some important goals at Parkhead between 2006-2009, scoring 44 goals in 108 games.

Now, it’s time to pass the baton on and his son Lucas Vennegoor of Hesselink will play for the Netherlands in the U19 Euros.

Lucas, who was born the year his father joined the Bhoys, made his senior debut for Eredivisie club FC Twente, making eight appearances.

At youth level he has been a lot more prolific, scoring 13 times in 18 games and is tipped for a big future.

He still has a long way to go but he is one to watch for the future and who knows, he could one day end up back in Glasgow.

Are any Celtic players featuring at the U19 Euros?

Sadly, no current Celtic youngsters will be present at the U19 Euros, which is being held in Romania.
