Finally, there’s a firmer piece of speculation surrounding Jordan Larsson and Celtic other than Henrik being his father.
Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph reports tonight that the striker’s representatives have reached out to a number of clubs across Europe this summer, including the Bhoys.
Joseph says that Nottingham Forest are amongst those sides too, as teams from the English Premier League, Bundesliga and Serie A all show interest.
Now, that doesn’t mean of course that a Larsson move to Celtic is a guarantee. Far from it. In fact, we don’t even know if the Bhoys are really interested in the player.
However, given his profile and the fact he is a free agent, I’d expect the club to at least be willing to hear about his demands and ambitions for the coming season.
Larsson left Spartak Moscow this summer after the Russian situation threw up all sorts of issues for foreign footballers in the country.
He was most recently on loan at AIK in Sweden, but has recently departed there too.
It seems he is destined to sign for a decent European club and why shouldn’t we dream about it being Celtic?
I wrote on the website earlier this month that Larsson to the Bhoys wasn’t just a romantic notion, but one which could fit the transfer priorities of Ange Postecoglou this summer.
He’s a versatile forward whose strength is linking up play and combining with teammates. That’s exactly what the Bhoys need as we look forward to a busy season domestically and in Europe.

Ultimately, the goals of Larsson and Celtic could still clash. Maybe he’s looking for more money than we can offer. Perhaps he wouldn’t get the game time he wants or needs.
Postecoglou has a talented group of attackers and Larsson could be more of a ‘main man’ somewhere else, despite the family name.
There’s a long way to go on all this. But there it is. The first reported link between the club and the player. Expect this to be a saga that rumbles on from this point.
In other news, Confirmed: Vinicius Souza joins Espanyol as Celtic consider other midfield options.
