The post-split fixture list was one we were all waiting for with bated breath. Will Celtic get the opportunity to win the title at Ibrox? Or will we have a home tie to win it in front of the fans?
Those were probably the two dream scenarios that the Celtic fans would have wanted, but as it is, we either stand to win the title in front of a minimal amount of fans at Tynecastle or none at all at Ibrox.
It’s a strange scenario that the fans should not have had to face. Because it’s the Celtic fans that are being penalised.

Now I understand the reasons behind not allowing Celtic to go to Ibrox in the first fixture to potentially win the title. We all understand that. So why not allow the first game after the split to be played at Parkhead?
Let the fans enjoy the moment and allow the players to savour the atmosphere of celebrating in front of 60,000 fans instead of the paltry amount we will have in Edinburgh.
Why the SPFL have scored an own goal
As previously mentioned, the SPFL were clearly keen to avoid any potential flashpoints by allowing Celtic to go to Ibrox to win the league. But take a look at the fixture schedule on the first weekend. [SPFL]

Celtic face Hearts at Tynecastle at 215pm and Rangers are due to face Aberdeen at Ibrox at 3pm on the same day. Should Celtic go on and seal the title on the 7th of May the city will be packed with fans celebrating at the same time as 50,00 fans will be in attendance at Ibrox.
And the other scenario that could occur is this. If Celtic draw or lose at Tynecastle and Rangers beat Aberdeen, Ange Postecolgou can take his team to Ibrox knowing that a draw will crown us champions.
Obviously, we all want the title tied up as soon as possible but would it have been so difficult to allow as to do it at Celtic Park?
