Charlie Adam has doubled down on his opinion that there is trouble behind-the-scenes at Celtic, speaking to BBC Sportsound on Monday night.
Adam, currently a midfielder at Scottish Championship club Dundee, attracted the ire of supporters last week after suggesting Nir Bitton was causing problems in Neil Lennon’s dressing room.
They seemed baseless, and we even challenged them on the website.
However, he still feels justified for raising the point in the wake of Lennon’s fury at a team leak before the weekend’s Rangers defeat.
Adam said on Sportsound of the leak: “That’s a huge blow for them as a football club. I said on the show a couple of weeks ago there were grumbling’s in the team and players want to leave.
“This is not healthy. There’s a mole in the camp and you don’t like to hear it or see it, especially as a player or manager because you’ve worked all week.
“Neil is obviously fuming at that and it’ll be somebody on the training ground.”
Craig Levein would go on to state that sometimes leaks can be innocent, with players passing on the knowledge to family members, and then it snowballs from there.
However, the former Dundee United, Hearts and Scotland boss also said it’s the kind of thing that can drive a manager mad.
Lennon seemed to think someone was trying to do the club in, going by his post-match comments, so perhaps there’s a bit of validity to what Adam is saying about ‘grumblings’ behind the scenes at Celtic.
It’s something that the manager will no doubt be asked about again in his pre-Milan press conference tomorrow.
Will he tone down his anger as he did in the days following his post-Ferencvaros outburst?
