St Mirren boss Stephen Robinson addresses Dylan Reid's future amidst Celtic interest
St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson has addressed the speculation surrounding Celtic’s bid for young midfielder Dylan Reid.
Although, Ange Postecgolou’s side are not the only club looking to sign Reid, with interest from the likes of Benfica and Glasgow rivals Rangers.
However, the Hoops appear to be the furtherest ahead in the chase for the talented midfielder after having a bid believed to be in the region of £125,000 accepted by St Mirren.
Speaking for the first time since the Bhoys reported interest, Saints boss Stephen Robinson has opened up about Reid’s potential exit.
The former Motherwell manager has stated that the player and his representatives now have a decision to make regarding his future.
He said [Sky Sports]: “Obviously we are a club which has to develop players and has to sell.
“Obviously, we believe Dylan is a highly rated young talent that we CAN develop here. We are a club which produces players, an academy system which does develop players.
“There are no fewer than six young kids training with us at the moment, Kieran Offord might get a game to start on Saturday.
“He came on and did brilliant, and there are other kids in and around that. For me, it is a very good club for young players to develop.
“Dylan and his advisers and his family have some decisions to make, but I don’t think he needs to look too much further than here to develop.”
Decision time for Dylan Reid.
At this stage, it appears that all has gone well from Celtic’s side of things when it comes to the negotiations in this deal.
Ange Postecoglou, Darren O’Dea and Stephen McManus were all thought to have been part of a discussion with the St Mirren midfielder as talks between the club and the player got underway.
The youngster now has a decision to make in the coming days and weeks, which will decide where his long-term future will remain.
The 17-year-old would be a smart pick-up by the club, given the early promise he has shown at the Paisley side. So, it will be interesting to see if Reid decides to make the switch to join the Lennoxtown academy.
