Celtic are reportedly set to hold signing talks with young St Mirren midfielder Dylan Reid.

The Hoops have been keeping track of the 17-year-old’s progress for some time, having come through the ranks at the SMiSA Stadium.

Interest in Reid has arrived from across Europe. However, it was Celtic who appeared to make the first move, offering the Buddies a fee of £125,000.

Further offers have also since arrived for the Scotland under-17 internationalist after Glasgow rivals Rangers made an attempt to sign Reid.

However, the Ibrox side’s offer was turned down, and Celtic looks to be the team making the most progress in any potential deal.

According to the latest reports from the Scottish Daily Express, after the Bhoys had an offer for the midfielder accepted, Reid will now participate in signing talks later today.

The talented youngster will reportedly speak to B team coaches Stephen McManus and Darren O’Dea, whilst Ange Postecoglou is also expected to join the signing talks via zoom from Austria.

The Celtic manager admitted late last week that he wasn’t involved in the negotiations for the youth Scotland internationalist, with his potential future being amongst the B team.

However, as Reid edges closer to completing a move to Parkhead, the 56-year-old will step in to help those negotiations run smoothly and convince him to come to the club.

Whilst the majority of Celtic’s transfer business this summer has been focused on improving Postecoglou’s first team, it is very positive to see work going on behind the scenes to bring some of Scotland’s best talents to the academy.

Reid made his St Mirren debut at just 16 years old and has shown promise in his further appearances for the Buddies.

So, it could prove to be a shrewd bit of business by the club bringing the youngster to the club.

That move could take another step closer to completion if talks go well later today.

In other news, Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou well poised to strike in summer market after initial business.
