Steve Clarke will be on media duty for Kilmarnock’s clash with Celtic.

The Scotland boss will have enjoyed a several months-long victory lap after securing the country’s first qualification for a World Cup since 1998.

But Sky Sports have announced that he’ll be back on our screens as a studio guest for their Scottish double header on Sunday.

Ayrshire-born Clarke’s ties with Kilmarnock are evident from his managerial career, whilst players from Celtic, Hearts and Rangers are all likely to be on the flight from Glasgow to North America.

We’ll get the chance to hear his thoughts on what has been a remarkable season in Scottish football.

Steve Clarke on Celtic media duty

Clarke’s Kilmarnock were a constant thorn in the side of Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic while the pair were in the respective dugouts.

The Hoops went over a year without beating Clarke’s Killie between October 2017 and December 2018.

Two players who excelled in that side ended up signing for Celtic, in the shapes of Youssuf Mulumbu and Greg Taylor. Varying degrees of success there.

Kilmarnock’s status nosedived after Clarke’s departure to take the Scotland hotseat, with Angelo Alessio and Alex Dyer unable to prevent an eventual relegation.

After Tommy Wright, they hired Derek McInnes, who oversaw their resurgence. Clarke, on the other hand, has been linked with the Celtic job on a number of occasions.

He was initially tipped to be Rodgers’ permanent successor in 2019, before Neil Lennon was unexpectedly given the permanent job. Clarke joined Scotland later that year.

His time at Hampden has marked the resurgence of the Scottish national team, with three historic qualifications for major tournaments in 2021, 2024 and now 2026.

Hoops heroes Kieran Tierney and Callum McGregor have both played leading roles for the Tartan Army during Clarke’s tenure.

Should Steve Clarke ask Celtic captain Callum McGregor to revoke his Scotland retirement for the 2026 World Cup?

Celtic’s Callum McGregor on returning to Scotland duty

In a surprising move, McGregor retired from Scotland duty after the last EUROs. Some are wondering if he will return to the squad for this summer’s World Cup.

Asked about it in December, McGregor said: “To be honest, it’s not something I’ve thought of.

The guys have done amazing, they qualified in the last international break. I’ve got a lot of good team-mates and good friends in there, so I’m so happy for them.

“And for me, I just want to concentrate on the job I’ve got here with Celtic. I don’t want to get drawn into anything like that.

“I’ve got a really big job here with the change of manager soon. I’ll just keep trying to play well and help the team and whatever will be, will be.”
