Celtic’s dominance in Scotland has been there for all to see.
For nearly two decades, only one team has shone bright at the top of Scottish football, and along with it, the Celtic fans have been blessed to watch some high-quality football.
Former Rangers player and current Scotland assistant coach Steven Naismith has witnessed that as a player, as well as a manager, during his stint in the dugout of Hearts.
But when asked which SPFL manager, past or present, the versatile forward would have loved to have played under, he dropped in a name from the champions of Scotland.

Steven Naismith on wanting to play under Celtic hero Ange Postecoglou
Ange Postecoglou’s style was all-action, and whilst it took a few games to get going, as soon as he managed to get his foot down on that accelerator, nobody could stop Celtic.
But despite having a Rangers connection, Naismith wasn’t afraid to admit that he would have loved to have played under a man like Postecoglou, mainly because of how he plays the game, as he told the Warm Up.
Kris Boyd: “What SPFL manager do you wish you could have played under? We will pick one now, and we will pick one from when we (Boyd, Naismith and Charlie Mulgrew) were playing.”
Naismith: “It’s a hard one, because if you think of Motherwell’s style this season, as a player, it would be really enjoyable.
“But I think, overall, as a manager (currently), I think I would like to play under Derek McInnes.
“I would, (in the past), have liked to have played under Ange Postecoglou, because of his style, and as a forward player, it’s just brilliant. Attacking football. Loads of running, so he definitely isn’t your (Boyd) one.”
Boyd: “Else, I would have had to have pulled on that green and white. No.”
Postecoglou’s record at Celtic
There was talk of Postecoglou returning to Celtic following Brendan Rodgers’ exit, but that isn’t going to happen.
The Greek-born Australian has been sacked twice in 2025, by Tottenham after winning the Europa League, and then after 39 days by Nottingham Forest.
Despite taking those hits, Postecoglou will forever be fondly remembered by the Celtic Park faithful, and his record in Scotland speaks for itself.
And remember, Postecoglou took over when Steven Gerrard had won the title at Rangers, so his success was even better and greater.
