Ange Postecoglou’s preferred destination has been revealed by former England rugby head coach Eddie Jones.

Postecoglou was sacked by Nottingham Forest after 39 days in the role but soon linked with a surprise return to Celtic following the resignation of Brendan Rodgers.

Reports have previously stated that Postecoglou is unlikely to rejoin the Hoops and Jones reiterated that thought while also suggesting where he would like his next job in management to be.

Ange Postecoglou eyeing Premier League return

The Japan rugby boss was asked about his long-time friend’s recent sacking at Forest and how he was feeling.

Jones admitted that his fellow countryman was doing okay, but when it came to Celtic, admitted that a Premier League return was more likely.

He told YouTuber Nik Simon: “My mate Ange lasted 39 days in the job and he got cut. We keep in contact. I saw the rumour about Celtic, but I don’t know whether he would want to go back there or not. I think having experienced Premier League he would like to stay in that area.

“He is a Greek-Australian and I am a Japanese-Australian and we have had to sort of battle to get to where we are.

“We have both coached our national team and left to try and make a name overseas. Both of us in some ways have been able to do that, and both are quite driven in how we want to play the game – and you get criticised for it.”

Ange Postecoglou not in the running for Celtic job

Over the past few days, it has become clear that Postecoglou will almost certainly not be returning.

Columbus Crew manager Wilfried Nancy has become the new favourite for the Hoops role, and reportedly has a strong relationship with Paul Tisdale.

67 Hail Hail revealed last week that Kjetil Knutsen is interested in the job too, while there are other options like Kieran McKenna and Craig Bellamy who have been considered.
