Stuart Armstrong is still a free agent after leaving Sheffield Wednesday in the summer.
Armstrong spent the second half of last season at Hillsborough following a brief spell in the MLS with Vancouver Whitecaps.
The Scotland international was loved during his time at Celtic Park and brought to Glasgow as part of a double deal with Dundee United that also included Gary Mackay-Steven.
Now that Armstrong is a free agent, a player of his experience could be a great fit for most clubs, and one of his former employers has an eye on bringing him back.

According to the Sheffield Star, Armstrong could be in line for an immediate return to Wednesday.
The Championship side are in financial disarray but can finally make signings after two EFL embargoes were lifted.
They still have some restrictions and will only be allowed to sign free agents and players on loan until 2027.
Talks have begun with the 33-year-old, who made 11 appearances for the Owls last season, about returning to the club but nothing has advanced as of yet.

Due to the ongoing trouble with the English second tier side, if Armstrong is to join, it would have to be at some expense.
Reports have suggested that the Scotland international would need to take a wage cut in order to re-sign.
Considering he was already on a smaller pay packet than you would expect, this may be what hampers the deal.
