Celtic have finally woken up!
After weeks of speculation around the manager and players, the Celtic supporters are finally getting confirmation on the goings-on at the club.
That includes Stephen Welsh leaving Celtic and joining English Championship side Swansea City on a two-year contract, with an option of another year.
While Celtic have 74-year-old Martin O’Neill in charge, Swansea are coached by 38-year-old Vitor Matos, and he highlighted Welsh playing for a ‘dominant’ team like the Hoops, which will now help him at his new club.
“He is calm, mobile and used to playing for teams who look to be dominant with and without the ball,” Matos told Swansea’s official website.
Would you have given Stephen Welsh another chance at Celtic?

Vitor Matos delighted with Swansea City signing Stephen Welsh
Scottish football will forever take a verbal beating from the outside, no more so than those who participate in English football.
As for handling the weight of expectation, Welsh is exceptionally well-prepared; he has already navigated the most demanding, high-pressure environments imaginable while turning out for the champions of Scotland.
That will aid him when he puts on those Swansea colours, as the centre-back’s loan spell at Motherwell also shouldn’t be forgotten about.
Many observers felt Motherwell played the best football in Scotland during the recent campaign.
This makes Swansea a fascinating fit, as the Welsh outfit has long been renowned for a free-flowing, possession-based game, most notably during the tenure of a certain Brendan Rodgers.
“Stephen is an experienced player who will add quality to our squad,” said Matos.
“He is calm, mobile and used to playing for teams who look to be dominant with and without the ball.
“We are really pleased to have come to an agreement, and we are looking forward to starting work with him during pre-season.”
