Talented Celtic youngster receives superb international promotion
Celtic youngster Rocco Vata is set to link up with the Republic of Ireland U18 squad for 2 friendly matches in Marbella this week.
It’s another big boost for the Lennoxtown academy starlet, who’s been plying his trade with the Celtic B team this term.
Vata was called up to the Irish U17 squad during the October international break. That in itself was a promotion in itself. And now he’s been given a quick boost up the ladder after being called up to the U18s:
Ireland will face off against Sweden on November 11th and 14th at the Marbella Football Center. The fixtures are part of a 5-nation program that also involves Norway, Slovakia, and the Czech Republic [Marbella Football Center].
Vata, meanwhile, impressed the Irish supporters in recent European qualifiers with the U17s back in October. After netting goals against Andorra and Macedonia respectively, his reputation took another leap. The Celtic supporters have been consistently wowed by his progress this season too.
And now, at only 16 years of age, the attacker will be given an opportunity to impress at yet another higher age group.
Rocco Vata keeping a cool head as Celtic talent continues to impress
Vata has been in-form this season. There’s no denying he’s sprung into life ever since signing his first professional contract with the club back in July.
He’s been a vital part of Tommy McIntyre’s impressive B side. The experience of playing senior-level football at such a young age in the Lowland League is clearly doing wonders for the player’s development.
Of course, it’s clear we’ve nowhere near seen his potential. Vata remains at an extremely early stage in his Celtic career. That’s something that will need to continually be reinforced into his mindset to ensure he stays grounded.
Not that the Ireland youth talent is showing any signs of complacency. On the contrary in fact. If anything, he’s been showing a remarkably cool head as he refuses to allow the hype surrounding him have a negative impact on his game.
He looks like a young talent that’s thriving under the spotlight. You would hardly be surprised if he goes away with the U18s and makes a big impact there as well. Vata has a habit of turning heads.
A massive congratulations to him for his latest achievement. It’s the least he deserves given his hard work this term.
