Celtic latest January arrival Hyeongyu Oh has sent a classy farewell message to his former club, Suwon Samsung Bluewings.

The 21-year-old was announced as the newest addition to Ange Postecoglou’s squad on Wednesday morning, signing a five-year deal at Parkhead.

Oh becomes the four signing to sign for the Hoops this month, joining Alistair Johnston, Yuki Kobayashi and Tomoki Iwata in Glasgow.

The South Korean international quickly got down to work at Paradise, taking part in first-team training at Lennoxtown yesterday.

The Celtic manager has plenty of experience buying players from the Asian market, having brought six signings to the club from the J-League.

After signing the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi and Daizen Maeda, it has typically taken some time for new additions to arrive from the other side of the world to start life at Celtic.

However, as mentioned, it was the opposite for Hyeongyu Oh, with his move to Parkhead advancing very quickly behind the scenes.

Following his official announcement as a Celtic player on Wednesday, the striker has taken the time to say his goodbyes to his former club via social media.

Taking to Instagram, Hyeongyu Oh sent a classy farewell message, stating: “Hello, this is Oh Hyun-gyu.

“As many of you know, I’m sending you greetings like this because I’m transferring to Celtic. Thank you very much to all the fans who sent me a lot of support and cheers while I was in Suwon Samsung.

“And I would like to thank the players, coaches, coaching staff, and club staff who worked hard together at Suwon Samsung.

“I’ll cheer for Suwon Samsung from afar so that they always win. Except for Sangmu, I have never left Suwon, have taken on a new challenge, and I ask for your support.

“Thank you :)”

Hyeongyu Oh ready to kick start Celtic career as he says his goodbyes

One aspect of this move that Ange Postecoglou heavily praised was Hyeongyu Oh’s desire to get the move to Celtic over the line.

The Celtic manager admitted yesterday that, at one stage, it didn’t look as though a deal was even going to happen.

But thanks to the perseverance of both Oh and the Hoops recruitment staff, a deal was finally able to get over the line, which has brought the youngster to Parkhead.

He may only have been a Celtic player for just over 24 hours, but he is already showcasing his brilliant attitude and desire by getting to work on the training ground.

It is a classy touch from the striker to say his goodbyes to his old club in South Korea after a brilliant first few years in senior football.

We look forward to seeing him pulling on the green and white Hoops for the first time, and stay tuned to find out a little bit more about our newest signing later today!
