Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers is part of the USA squad preparing to take on England tonight at the World Cup.

The Americans take on Gareth Southgate’s side in Al-Khor at 7pm this evening, knowing that a win will put them to the top of Group B.

The match is a family-splitting affair for Carter-Vickers, given that his dad is American and his mum is English.

And a 2018 video from the USMNT explains the entire situation, through CCV’s words. It’s well worth a watch before kick-off tonight.

“My last name is Carter-Vickers,” says the Hoops defender. “That’s Carter, hyphen, Vickers.”

“That’s my dad Howard, he’s from Louisiana. That’s my mum Geraldine, she’s from Essex.

“I have two last names, two parents, two homes.”

Carter-Vickers then talks about his journey from a young age and why he wanted to play for the United States.

Time will tell whether the permanent summer signing features in the game at the Al Bayt Stadium. Celtic fans were certainly surprised that he didn’t feature at all in Monday’s opener against Wales.

Given that Josip Juranovic, Daizen Maeda and Aaron Mooy all started their country’s opening matches, it would be great to see Carter-Vickers involved tonight against England.

Celtic supporters will certainly be awaiting news on line-ups as kick-off approaches.
