Liam Scales has seen it all at Celtic.

The big Irish defender’s Celtic career has been something of a fairy tale. Scales was set for a Parkhead exit in 2023 but an injury crisis opened up a huge opportunity at Celtic for him and the Irishman grabbed it with both hands.

Scales was superb in Brendan Rodgers’ first season since he returned as Celtic manager and kept the likes of £4.5m signing Maik Nawrocki and Gustaf Lagerbielke out of the Hoops starting line up.

Scales won a double in that season and this year he is looking forward to a potential treble. But it’s the Rangers vs Celtic game that is on his mind as the defender looks forward to a career-first at Ibrox.

Liam Scales is buzzing to play vs Rangers at Ibrox in front of Celtic fans

Celtic fans have been banned from Ibrox for over two years now after Rangers threw their toys out of the pram and started to cut the Broomloan Stand allocation in 2019.

However, with Celtic fans set to return to Ibrox, Scales admits he is buzzing about playing against Rangers with a Parkhead contingent watching on.

Scales told the Daily Record, “Definitely looking forward to having the fans there, it’s a tough place to go and they’re always tough games, but it’ll help having the fans back there.

“It will be a good experience, I’ve never experienced it with the fans so I’m really looking forward to it.”

Scales is likely to start on Sunday after impressive recent performances against Dundee United and St Johnstone and looks set to get his Ibrox wish.

Why Celtic fans’ Ibrox allocation was cut vs Rangers

The Ibrox ticket allocation conversation has a lot of different versions cutting about.

Rangers say it was done to increase their home season ticket numbers whilst Celtic fans have another reason for the allocation cut.

That reason goes back to this game:

The site of Celtic fans celebrating another win against Rangers at Ibrox was too much and not long after that the tickets started getting cut.

Celtic fans will be hoping that there will be a repeat of these scenes come Sunday to pile on more misery to Rangers in a season where the Ibrox club continues to remain in the Parkhead clubs shadow.
