Celtic are still in the market for players this January despite the crowd-pleasing triple transfer raid on the J-League over the weekend.
As you’ll know by now, the Bhoys have signed up Reo Hatate, Yosuke Ideguchi and Daizen Maeda. The deals provide excellent depth in Celtic’s midfield area, as well as Ange Postecogolou’s attack.
Yet, the Celtic boss also has eyes on other parts of the team.

Postecoglou squad building isn’t over at Celtic
The Daily Record reported, as deals for the Japanese trio were concluded, that Celtic will continue looking at other targets. Chiefly, a defender is mentioned as a potential recruit, alongside another winger.
Celtic do have options in central defence but with no guarantees that Christopher Jullien will return to top form, we could do with another body in the building.
Also, another right-sided attacking option doesn’t sound like the worst idea given James Forrest’s ongoing injury issues and Liel Abada’s fairly inconsistent form.
If players with a promising profile are available in these positions it would go a long way to reassuring fans that a squad is in place to play matches every few days between January and May.
I wouldn’t expect Celtic to go on a spending spree, but the club has shown over the last six months that they can recruit smartly in alignment with the manager.
January is a difficult month to do business and any incomings could rely on squad deadwood being moved on, but there is hope that more new Bhoys will join the Postecoglou revolution.
I am confident the manager will do so efficiently.
