The Celtic hero who helped destroy Rangers in Demolition Derby before acting alongside Brad Pitt in Hollywood blockbuster

Celtic have had a number of players leave the club to try and progress their careers elsewhere.

Sometimes the move works out, sometimes it doesn’t. Kyogo’s Celtic exit is proving to be a bit of a failed adventure, whereas former Hoops striker Hyeongyu Oh seems to be on fire in the Belgian league with Genk.

It’s funny how things work out. However, whilst most footballers try and extend their careers within the game, one former Celtic hero decided to try his hand at something completely different.

And when a movie alongside Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt rears its head, not many people, including Celtic players past and present, would be able to turn that down.

Celtic hero Bobby Petta and how he starred alongside Hollywood superstar Bradd Pitt

Bobby Petta enjoyed a very successful Celtic career, picking up two league titles and a League Cup under Martin O’Neill.

However, before he retired from football, Petta was also cast in the Hollywood blockbuster World War Z which was filmed in Glasgow alongside Brad Pitt in 2006.

The former Celtic winger was an extra in the production and can be spotted in the clip below in the crowd through George Square, running from the zombies from 1m 5 seconds.

Bobby Petta’s amazing post-Celtic career

Petta joined Celtic in 1999 but the Dutchman came to life at Celtic under Martin O’Neill in the 6-2 Glasgow Derby Demolition of Rangers.

He terrorised the Ibrox defence to set the Hoops on course for their first title under O’Neill but it was in this win where Petta earned hero status amongst the Celtic supporters.

After leaving Celtic in 2004, Petta’s career fizzled out as he jumped from club to club. Going from the Premier League with Fulham to Bondai Beach with Sydney FC, the Dutch winger is now said to be playing football in Springburn with West of Scotland Second Division side Rossvale.

As for his most memorable time in Scotland, Petta’s will always be that game against Rangers as unlike his part in World War Z, that is where the Dutchman really became famous in Scotland.
