Sometimes, it’s the simple things; ahead of the first Premiership home fixture for the Bhoys, the Celtic Park surface is looking resplendent.
Celtic Park will welcome 24,500 supporters for the visit of Dundee tomorrow. While Ange’s Bhoys need a result after a disappointing start to the league campaign, he can’t have any complaint about the playing surface.
Especially after negotiating the rather questionable grass at Jablonec’s home stadium on Thursday.
Celtic Park Tour Guide had the privilege of showing off Paradise ahead of tomorrow, and the pictures are a sight for sore eyes.
“Magnificent” indeed. It’s the work Ange Postecoglou’s side do on it that’ll be most telling, though. After a convincing win in the Europa League, Postecoglou’s hyper-attacking outfit need to get their work done domestically.
Dundee are the visitors tomorrow, and don’t sound too afraid. With tomorrow’s game in mind, The Dee’s Jordan Marshall told the Courier:
“We have said this week we need to have the belief that we can get a result, otherwise there is no point in going.
“So we will go there on Sunday and have a right go at them.”
Meanwhile, Celtic boss Postecoglou said that if tomorrow didn’t bring a convincing win, it’d be a real concern. As focused on the style of the play as he is the result, there are promising early signs, but the defence remains a real concern.
Fans are back, Celtic Park is magnificent: the Bhoys have no excuse in Premiership tomorrow
With some momentum behind us – finally – and a perfect Parkhead playing surface, there’s no reason for Celtic not to get the win tomorrow.
Dundee have their own problems. Their manager, James McPake, is being touted for a job elsewhere. The Dark Blues also have suspension issues to contend with, after Max Anderson’s red card against St Mirren [BBC].
Don’t get us wrong; Dundee are no mugs. With a decent manager at the helm, and some real experience in their ranks, they’ve already shown they’re a determined bunch. Coming back from 2-1 down with 10 men is no easy feat.
However, Celtic should really be expected to care of business tomorrow. It would be a result that would set off some real momentum and energy. The atmosphere in the Bhoys support is still one of optimism, but Postecoglou will be aware that he needs to deliver results.
With the backing of supporters, and the perfect pitch for his fast-paced, entertaining football, Postecoglou probably has his best chance yet to secure a convincing win for Celtic.
