It shouldn’t be a surprise that Ange Postecoglou has been linked to the vacant Scotland manager’s job.
Following Steve Clarke’s exit after Scotland were knocked out of the World Cup, many thought the former Celtic man’s name would pop up on the radar.
But even after Postecoglou’s trophy-laden career, including winning the Asia Cup with Australia, he is getting disrespected by some quarters of the media.
To perhaps nobody’s surprise, talkSPORT are proving to be the loudmouths on this topic, as they have questioned Postecoglou’s credentials amid the Scotland links.
Andy Goldstein and Darren Bent spoke in shock when talking about Postecoglou replacing Clarke, while Simon Jordan stated that the former Tottenham boss thinks he’s ‘an elite manager.’
Ange Postecoglou as Scotland’s next manager. What do you think? 🤔

Ange Postecoglou questioned over Scotland manager links
Andy Goldstein: “Managers linked with the Scotland job. David Moyes, I get that. Millwall boss, Alex Neil. Yeah. Ange Postecoglou?!”
Darren Bent: “The Postecoglou one makes no sense to me.”
Goldstein: “Have they not seen enough evidence?”
Bent: “The link there with Celtic, what he did at Celtic, I get that.”
And then Simon Jordan: “Unless he is going to sacrifice the salary, everything is done for the money and not the love, of course. Then he isn’t going to manage Scotland.
“But he would be an interesting phenomenon because he wouldn’t be a problem in press conferences. He wouldn’t be a problem to talk to afterwards. He probably might be a prickly sod like he was when he was getting put under pressure at Tottenham, but he would still have his say.
“The players would probably elevate a little bit. But you still have the same materials to work with. The problem with Postecoglou, in his own eyes, is that he thinks he’s an elite manager.
“And so with that in mind, he isn’t going to want to manage Scotland because that isn’t going to give him the outcomes that he thinks he’s potentially entitled to.”

Postecoglou’s trophy haul speaks for itself
It needs to be remembered that Postecoglou came to Glasgow when Celtic had just produced a disastrous campaign and lost the league title to Rangers.
Celtic would dominate under Postecoglou, including winning the domestic Treble, before he helped Tottenham win their first trophy since 2008 and their first European crown since the 80s.
Whatever level the Greek-born Australian has coached at, he has lifted silverware, whether that’s in the J-League in Japan or on the international stage.
He is someone who divides opinion because his style of play is so attack-minded, and he isn’t shy to tell you what he thinks.
But that doesn’t mean that Postecoglou should be disrespected and questioned over getting the Scotland gig, because the Tartan Army would watch their nation go to the next level under his stewardship.
