Marco Tilio left Celtic for Melbourne City on loan earlier this year after struggling to hold down a place in Brendan Rodgers’ side that hasn’t been helped by injury struggles.
After finding it difficult to settle at the club, Tilio made just two cameo appearances for the Bhoys before his move back to AAMI Park was ratified in January.
Despite a positive start to the campaign, including a goal against Newcastle Jets, the Australia international ran into some familiar problems against Western Utd last week.

Unfortunately, Tilio was substituted off by Aurelio Vidmar holding his hamstring, with the extent of his injury not available until further assessment.
Now, latest developments indicate how long the Celtic man could miss as he looks to get back to full fitness in his homeland.
Marco Tilio’s injury extent comes to light
According to ESPN, Celtic loanee Tilio will miss between six and eight weeks at Melbourne City after suffering a partial tear to his left hamstring tendon.
The report states the A-League outfit are likely to be ‘conservative’ with his return date as they aim to slowly reintroduce the Hurstville-born man back into action after a frustrating run of injuries.
Tilio is likely to miss out on featuring for Australia until the New Year as he turns his focus to recuperating from his latest setback.
Hopefully, he can get back to full fitness as soon as possible. It is never nice to see a contracted player at Celtic on the sidelines, his talent deserves a platform to shine on a consistent basis.
Marco Tilio’s Celtic future is uncertain
Last month, Tilio hinted that he could leave Celtic when disclosing his main targets back in Australia, as he stated: “I just want to play consistent games, do really well and put myself in a really good position to either return to Scotland or go on loan elsewhere in Europe.”
With the notion of a successful Parkhead comeback feeling unlikely, seeing Tilio succeed at Melbourne City would be a welcome scenario for everyone involved.
However, saying that, the 23-year-old will want to find a way to shake off his injury troubles, which are becoming a frustrating theme in his career.
