Celtic fans have enjoyed a number of high-scoring wins against Aberdeen over many decades.
In fact, 67 Hail Hail once discussed the five best league wins Celtic have had over The Dons since the year 2000 just before the 2-2 draw with Aberdeen at Celtic Park.
In those five wins, Celtic racked up 27 goals with none conceded as the Parkhead club dished out some serious punishments to the Pittodrie club.
And after Celtic hammered Jimmy Thelin’s side 6-0 in the League Cup, it got us thinking of the last time Celtic beat Aberdeen by the same scoreline and, funnily enough, it happened on this day.
The frantic ending to Celtic beating Aberdeen 6-0 fans may have forgotten about
November the 12th 2023 was another tough day for Aberdeen as they made the trip to Celtic Park to face the return of Brendan Rodgers.
The game started off badly for The Dons, who were being managed by Barry Robson at the time went behind early to a 9th-minute Hyunjun Yang goal.
Kyogo Furuhashi added a second in the 16th minute which put Celtic in easy street at Parkhead.
But it wasn’t until the 77th-minute when the game came to life and in the dying embers of the clash, this happened:
In a crazy nine-minute added-on spell, David Turnbull (90+2) and Hyeongyu Oh (90+6, 90+9) added another three goals to complete Celtic’s hammering of Aberdeen which really damaged the Pittodrie club’s confidence as from there, they went on a relegation battle for a few months.
Brendan Rodgers’ record as Celtic boss vs Aberdeen
Brendan Rodgers has been the scourge of Aberdeen ever since he became the Celtic boss back in 2016.
Beating them in every competition, Rodgers dished out some serious pain to Derek McInnes as he denied the now Kilmarnock boss any opportunity to win silverware.

So here is Rodgers’ record against Aberdeen over all domestic competition over his two spells as Celtic boss and it makes real grim reading for The Reds’ fans.
- Brendan Rodgers has faced Aberdeen 19 times as Celtic boss
- Rodgers has won 16, drawn two and lost just once.
- The defeat was a meaningless end-of-season game when Aberdeen beat Celtic 1-0 in May 2018 to ensure Rangers finished in third place in the Scottish Premiership.
- Celtic have scored 49 goals and conceded just 15 against Aberdeen.
- The highest-scoring game Rodgers has overseen was the 4-3 Pittodrie win in December 2018.
- In five Hampden dates, Rodgers has won them all picking up three trophies in the process winning two League Cups and a Scottish Cup.
