Celtic could be in line for a bumper allocation in the Scottish Cup against fierce rivals Rangers.

The draw for the quarter-finals pitted Celtic up against Rangers for a chance to earn a spot in the semi-finals.

It is the first time since 2021 that the Hoops have faced their rivals before a trip to Hampden Park.

All eyes will be on how many tickets Celtic will receive for the meeting at Ibrox and reports suggest a huge sea of green and white could be present.

Why Celtic could have a large away following at Rangers

Away end allocations have been a controversial topic for Glasgow derbies in recent years but things could change.

Scottish Premiership rules state that clubs are allowed five per cent of the stadium, at minimum, but in the cup, that could be extended.

Teams can request for 20 per cent of the stadium and that would allow for more than 10,000 Celtic fans to be in attendance.

That would require the clubs and Police Scotland to agree and sign it off, with details set to be released in the coming weeks.

A big allocation would suit everyone at Celtic and Rangers

News of a bumper away end in the Glasgow derby should be considered a positive step for everyone.

Some of the best memories are when there are a healthy mix of home and away fans in the ground, adding to the atmosphere.

With a place at Hampden on the line, a strong backing of Celtic fans to roar on Martin O’Neill’s side will feel like a throwback to some of the other famous encounters that have taken place over the years.
