New signing Maik Nawrocki was nowhere to be seen in Celtic training on Thursday.

Brendan Rodgers‘ side are back at Lennoxtown, preparing for Saturday’s friendly against Wolves in Dublin.

There was plenty of good news in a short video shared by the club in the afternoon. (Celtic TV)

Injured pair Cameron Carter-Vickers and Anthony Ralston were seen clearly back in action, standing in a huddle presumably at the start of the session.

New South Korean recruits Hyunjun Yang and Hyeokkyu Kwon were also spotted but there was no Yuki Kobayashi, Marco Tilio or Alistair Johnston.

Another player not present was new recruit Nawrocky.

The big Pole was announced as a Celtic player on Wednesday, agreeing a five-year move from Legia Warsaw.

While a number of the replies to the club’s training video focussed on the obvious CCV positive, a few were keen to ask what was going on with Nawrocky.

The 22-year-old could simply be sorting a few things before getting started at the club. However, it is also worth remembering that he has been dealing with a recent injury issue.

As we covered last week, Nawrocki sat out Legia’s Ekstraklasa opener against LKS Lodz on Friday night. While some thought it was to do with an imminent transfer, he did have an issue.

“Maik Nawrocki suffered a minor injury and will not be at our disposal,” was the explanation from Legia boss Kosta Runjaić.

Another report from Polish outlet TVP Sport explained that Nawrocki had also missed two training sessions with Legia after their Super Cup win over Rakow.

They described it as “minor health problems”.

This issue is likely to be the reason why Nawrocki hasn’t yet started training for Celtic but it’s nothing to worry about. He should be fighting fit very soon and ready to make an impact — both at Lennoxtown and on match days.
